Ipsy Glam Bag Review: August 2015

Hi friends! I know its only been a few days since I posted a review for my July Glam Bag but I received my August Glam Bag in the mail today and I figured it was only appropriate to review it ASAP. Without wasting too much time, let's take a look at my Ipsy Glam Bag for August 2015.

After opening my shiny pink package I was left to this funky looking make up bag. I'm not sure of the exact name of this print but I know I have seen it on skirts/blazers before... I feel like its something I've seen in Clueless ? The theme for this Glam Bag was back to school therefore I think this print is rather fitting. Pairing this print with the pink zipper makes one cute combination! I also adore the fact that this make up bag is made out of material that feels water resistant which means it would be perfect to take just about any where, and if you're clumsy like me and spill a lot this is also the perfect bag for you.

Without wasting too much time, I immediately ripped opened my bag. I was happy to find some familiar as well as new products inside. At a quick glance I was mostly impressed with this bag!

Item # 1: Hikari Lip Gloss
I am never disappointed to find a lip product or two in a subscritipon service especially a lip gloss! This particular lip gloss is in the shade salsa and it is perfect! Its the perfect colour to pair with a casual outfit. I've never heard of the brand Hikari before but after browsing online I've seen fantastic reviews. This lip gloss alone is $13 which means its worth more than the $10 bag itself! Below is a picture of what the colour looks like when applied.

Item # 2 :StarLooks Pro Eye Liner Pen

StarLooks is not a brand I am familiar with but you can never go wrong with eyeliner! I don't wear a lot of eye make up but I do like to apply eye liner for special occasions and nights out. I browsed online for reviews on this eyeliner and most of which were fanastic! This eye liner comes out in a felt pen and dries fast which I think is necessary when applying make up! The retail price of this eyeliner is $19 which is a steal to find in this bag since you're only paying $10. Overall, I am very impressed with this product and I cannot wait to try it out.

Item # 3 : Lord and Berry Nude Lip Liner

This picture was a little hard for me to get but this is a nude lip liner from Lord and Berry. Lord and Berry is another brand I am unfamiliar with. I did some online browsing and I found out this brand is from the UK. The reviews for this lip liner were fantastic and everyone raved about this particular colour. I don't like that the colour of this liner is considered nude as I think it is way darker than that but it is very natural looking and I have lipsticks I can wear this with. Another favourite in my bag this month! This lip liner sells online for $18.54 Canadian making it another steal.

Item # 4 : Jesse's Girl Eye Shadow Primer
I wasn't overly thrilled to find eye shadow primer in my bag as I am not an eye shadow person but Jesse's Girl is a very good make up brand and I will find some use out of it. A friend of mine told me that eye shadow primer works very well for eye liner as well.

Item # 5: Batiste Dry Shampoo

AH! I was so excited to receive a travel size bottle of Batiste Dry Shampoo. It is by far my favourite dry shampoo and they all smell so good! This was probably my favourite item to receive and I could rave about this forever. If you haven't tried Batiste dry shampoo, I recommend you do!

That was all that came in my Ipsy Glam Bag for the month of August but I am pretty confident this is my favourite bag to date. All the products I will use and for the most part they followed my quiz results. I can't wait to see what comes in my September Glam Bag!

Ipsy Glam Bag Review : July 2015

Hello, hello! Sorry for the lack of posting in over a month, its been a crazy one! Between my birthday, working, summer outings and most recently my broken foot its been hard to spare a few moments. I am hoping to do a birthday recap/life lately post in the near future but for right now let's get into my Ipsy Glam Bag review for July!

After removing the packaging I was left to the sight of this bag. Let's just say this bag is basically a 10/10 for me! I love the print and bright colours on this bag I think it is perfect for summer. This bag is a little smaller then last month's bag but overall you can still fit a decent amount of stuff.

After admiring the bag for a minute, I eagerly dug into it to see what samples I received this month! At a first glance, I was a little intrigued as all of the products were new to me.

Item # 1: Be a Bombshell Lip Balm

I am one that is always super excited about lip colours! This particular product is a coloured lip balm in the shade French Kiss. My camera doesn't do this colour much justice but it is a nice pale pink. I am one that always needs moisture on my lips and I find coloured lip balms are a nice change from lipstick and more hydrating. I have already wore this lip colour multiple times.

Item # 2 : Jelly pong pong 2 - in -1 eyeshadow and liner

I can't say I was exactly thrilled to see this in my bag as I am not an eye shadow person. I will likely try it out as eye liner and if it doesn't work out pass it along to my sister or a friend. I have never heard of this particular brand before. Have any of you heard of it? If so let me know in the comments below and please feel free to give me a personal review.

Item # 3: Cool way beachy salt spray

I just want to start off by saying I am super intrigued by this item. I have never heard of it but after receiving it I have read some reviews and it appears that it gives some great beach waves! When the weather is super humid I hate doing much with my hair so this will definitely come in handy. The instructions seem pretty straight forward as well and from what I can gather it doesn't give your hair that nasty crunchy texture.

Item # 4 : Cleanance Gel - soap less cleanser

From what I can gather off the bottle, this is a soap less cleanser for oily and acne prone skin. I unfortunately suffer from both of those as well as sensitive skin. I am intrigued to try this but also anxious as I don't want it to make my skin any worse. Have any of you tried this product? Any reviews would be lovely!

Item #5: Tarte Bronzer

I was pretty excited to see a Tarte product inside my bag as I have heard amazing things about Tarte. I don't wear a lot of bronzer but its always nice to have on hand when you want to add that extra glow to your skin. I'm really looking forward to trying this out and the colour is amazing.

That is all for my July Glam Bag. For the most part I was pretty impressed with the exception of eye shadow pencil. Everything else I will get a lot use out of! Let me know in the comments below how your Ipsy glam bag was for July.

Ipsy Glam Bag : June 2015

Hello, hello ! Sorry for being so MIA lately lots of life happening over here and I am going to try to do a life lately post in the near future!

Today, I have another review for all of you and its for my Ipsy Glam Bag. For those of you unfamiliar with Ipsy it is  monthly subscription service that will send you 5 samples and sometimes full size make up products to try! This service is only $10 a month and comes with a unique make up bag.

This is the make up bag that all of the samples came in this month. Personally, I am not a huge fan of this particular bag. The fabric feels a little cheap, and I hate that Ipsy is slathered all over it. The colours are nice, and I will still get use of it but definitely not my favourite make up bag I have seen from Ipsy.

After opening up the pouch here's a little preview of the goodies inside! At a quick glance I was not fully impressed as there was a few items on there I would of rather gone without. More on those products to come.

Item # 1: Healing + Vitamin E Penetrating Oil

This oil is used to smoothe surface of the hair, add moisture and increase the strength and elasticity of your hair. I have yet to use this product, but I am one that uses a blow dryer and flat iron on a daily basis so I know that this could be beneficial to my hair. This is not a full size bottle, just a mini!

Item # 2: Too Faced Melted Liquified Long Wear Lipstick

I was pretty excited to see a Too Faced product in my bag because I have heard such amazing things about their products. Also, I am a huge fan of lipstick so that was another plus!  I have not used this product yet but the colour is fabulous. For those of you wondering the shade of this lipstick is melted candy.

Item # 3: Aurora Gel Effect Nail Polish

Nail polish along with lipstick is a love of mine. I have never bought a gel effect nail polish therefore this will be a first for me! I am not huge on the colour, but I will not let it go to waste!

Item # 4: Precision Beauty Eyelash Curler

I was extremely disappointed to see this inside of my glam bag. I do not use an eyelash curler and I cannot name a time I ever have. When signing up for Ipsy you take a survey and in my survey I have specifically requested not to have products along these lines. I will definitely be making note of this for next month to avoid receiving another one.

Item # 5: TreStique Mini Eye Shadow Crayon

Again, another item I was not overly thrilled to receive. I also specifically asked for no eye shadow as its something I don't get a lot of use out of. I really only wear eye liner and mascara when I go out and mascara on a daily basis therefore any other eye products are of no use to me. I did however try this one out on my Graduation day and the colour is lovely. I may consider keeping this for more occasions if not I'll pass it along to my sister or a friend!

Overall, I would say this bag was 50/50. I didn't really like the bag, eye lash curler or eye shadow but I did like the nail polish, lipstick and Vitamin E oil. I am hoping that July's Glam Bag is much more suitable!

Little Life Box Review

Being the lover of health and wellness, I am always looking for food options that promote this. After doing some research online I came across the Little Life Box. Little Life Box is an Canadian health subscription box. Each month over a dozen healthy alternatives are delivered right to your door!

After reading some reviews, and watching a few YouTube videos on the Little Life Box, I knew I wanted to give it a try. I decided to try out the trial box in order to get a feel of what sorts of products I would be sent each month. I purchased the original trial box for a low price of $21 CAD and it was shipped out on June 1st. If you are vegan, Little Life Box has vegan boxes as well. I was quite impressed with the shipping time as I received it just two days later!

I am obsessed with the packaging for this box! How cute is the tissue paper!?

Packed with loads of goodies! Including 25% off your first Little Life Box!

Item # 1: Roasted Chick Peas

I love chick peas, especially in baking and hummus  but I can't say I have ever had them roasted. I shared this bag with my boyfriend the other day and let me tell you they were amazing! I will definitely be purchasing more of them.

Item # 2 : Assorted Tega Tea

I am a firm believer in the fact that you can never have too much tea! I haven't tried any of these yet but I am pretty excited to try the mint chocolate.

Item # 3: Lemon Grass Citronnelle Sticks

I can't say I have ever used citronnelle sticks but I am intrigued by these and will definitely try them out!

Item # 4: Bounce Energy Ball

I like to consider myself a protein bar connoisseur as I am addicted to protein bars but I have never heard of or tried this brand before. Chocolate mint is one of my favourite flavours so I am sure this will be amazing!

Item # 5 : Dark Chocolate Cake Mix

I haven't baked this yet, but I mean who doesn't love chocolate cake?

Item # 6 : Soy Sauce

I'm not a huge fan of Soy Sauce but I will not let this big bottle go to waste. I'll try it out and give my review in the comments!

Item # 7: WowButter

I have an unhealthy addiction to Peanut Butter and if this stuff tastes anything like it I know It will be a hit! Plus, you can't go wrong with an ingredient list like that!

Item # 8 : Chai Tea Latte Mix
Once again, more tea! I enjoy an occasional Chai tea latte but because the weather is warmer now I will likely save this for a cooler day or for fall.

Item # 9 : Mini Dark Velvet Chocolate
I'm a huge chocoholic and I most definitely enjoyed this little piece of heaven! It had a perfect rich flavour.

Item # 10 :  Pure Laundry Detergent and Multipurpose Cleaner

I'll be honest with you and say that I don't normally look for the natural or organic cleaning supplies. I have not tried these yet, but I did enjoy the smell!

Item # 11: Camino Almond Chocolate

This chocolate bar was absolutely delicious! If you're looking for a GF, organic bar I definitely recommend this one.

Item # 12 : Shea Butter

My skin is extremely sensitive and I am always hesitant to use new products. I have not tried this yet but I am excited to as the ingredient list seems pretty darn good to me!

Overall, I was extremely satisifed with my Little Life Box. I enjoyed the amount of goodies (especially the chocolate) that it contained and I am super excited for my July box to arrive!

Have you tried Little Life Box or are you thinking about it? Let me know in the comments below!

Friday Favourites # 2

Hello, hello! Sorry I've been MIA the past few days I've just been busy with life. Can you believe its already Friday!? Seems like the week literally just flew by. I plan on having a low key weekend aside from work and hopefully I'll get to enjoy this nice weather we've been having!

Without wasting too much time, I'm going to get right into this week's edition of Friday Favourites. As always, feel free to comment what you are loving in the comments below!

1. Fab Fit Fun Water Infuser

I received this particular water infuser last year in my Summer 2014 FabFitFun Box. I was obsessed with this bottle when I got it last year and I found myself using it constantly. However, as the winter approached I found myself infusing my water less and less. Now that Summer is right around the corner I have pulled it out again. I love being able to cut up fruit and give me water some flavour every once and a while!

2. #Girl Boss

After reading so many amazing reviews on this book, I decided I had to buy it. I purchased it off of Amazon a few weeks back and I've been hooked on it every chance I've got. I'm currently on my last chapter, so if anyone has any book recommendations for my next read please let me know in the comments!

3. Forever 21 Pajamas

I am sucker for Forever 21 pajamas. They have the cutest prints on them and are so inexpensive. When I saw these ones online last week I knew I just had to purchase them. How cute are the ice cream cones?

4. Skintamate Shaving Cream

Alright, I have a confession... I hate buying shaving cream! Normally, I'll just use some soap and water while shaving my legs. However, over the past few weeks I've noticed that my legs are becoming so irritated from shaving (I have very sensitive skin). After rummaging through one of my junk drawers I found this travel bottle of Skintamate which also came in my summer 2014 FabFitFun box! I must admit, that after using this shaving cream my legs feel WAY better. I will likely purchase this cream on routine.

5. Bath and Body Works Black Raspberry Vanilla Lotion

As I have previously mentioned, I am a huge Bath and Body Works junkie. Due to the fact my skin has been insanely dry lately I have been consistently using this black raspberry banilla Lotion from BBW. I must say, the moisture is amazing and the smell is even better!

That's all the favourites I have for you today, have a great weekend!

Things I'm Really Bad At

This morning while sitting in the Dentist's chair having my teeth cleaned a conversation with the hygenist got me thinking. We were sitting there talking about taking vitamins daily and how we often forget. After the conversation I began thinking of all the things I am terrible at doing and I managed to come up with this list for you.

Things I'm Really Bad At:

1) Remembering if I took my vitamins (multi, fish oil, iron, zinc etc)

2) Washing fruit before eating it

3) Turning off my hair straightener when I am finished using it

4) Completely finishing a water bottle before grabbing another

5) Recycling said water bottles after they are finished

6) Disconnecting from my phone (I swear I am always touching it)

7) Setting my FitBit on sleep mood

8) Logging food into my fitness pal

9) Thinking before I speak

10) Letting little things bother me

11) Getting Gas before my car is on empty

12) Leaving a pile of shoes at the front door

13) Flossing

There's a fairly good list for all of you, if you wish to participate in the fun post what you're really bad at in the comments below!

Chia & Flax Protein Pancakes

Hello Friends, and Happy Victoria Day to all my Canadian friends! Hope everyone had a great weekend, it was business as usual over here.

Today I'm sharing a recipe for my favourite Chia & Flax Protein Pancakes. I'm sure I speak for many when I say I love me some pancakes. Being the health nut I am I cannot bring myself to eat the typical buttermilk pancakes slathered in maple syrup. After some tweaks I think I have finally managed to come up with the perfect protein pancake recipe.

You will need the following ingredients to make these pancakes (makes 4-5 medium size pancakes) :

1/3 cup oats
1/3 egg whites or 1 whole egg
1 banana
1 scoop of Vanilla Protein
1 tbsp flax seed
1 tbsp chia seeds
Any berries of your choosing or enjoy as is!

Combine all of the ingredients into a blender  and mix until creamy.

Set your stove to low to medium heat in order to cook your pancakes. Do not put the stove on high as the pancakes will burn easily.

Flip once the batter begins to bubble.

Once your pancakes are all cooked, top with more fruit, agave nectar or if you have a sweet tooth like me some real coconut whip cream!

If you give these pancakes a try let me know in the comments below!

Have a Happy Monday!

Friday Favourites # 1

Hello Friends and Happy Friday! To kick off the weekend I am rounding up my favourites from this week. Without wasting much time, let's get into it!

1. Bath & Body Works hand soap

I'm sure I speak for many when I say that BBW soap is AMAZING. Seriously, I cannot get enough of it. I recently picked up the new Rio Samba Sunset hand soap and it smells so good! It reminds me of being on a tropical island and it is just purely amazing. If you haven't tried BBW soap I suggest you do ASAP.

 2 . EOS Lip Balm

I have had an obsession with EOS Lip Balm for a while now and I am always intrigued by different flavours. I recently picked up my usual variety pack at Costco and was surprised to see the Blueberry Acai in there. I love all of the flavours but the Blueberry Acai is pretty fantastic!

 3. Decorware Candle

On my weekly trip to Winners, I picked up this scented candle. I am a lover of candles and I love picking up great smelling ones at Winners. I was intrigued by the name of this candle being Tobacco & Oak though. I promise you this candles smells way better than its name! It is a more masculine scent but I assure you it is divine.
4. Lemon Zest Luna Bar

I am a huge junkie for protein and nutrition bars, and the more you read this blog you'll understand my obsession. Luna bars are one of my favourite nutrition bars and I have tried many flavours. I am not a huge fan of lemon but I decided to pick them up a couple weeks ago just to try. I'm not going to lie the Lemon Zest is quite delicious and I will definitely be purchasing them again soon.

Well friends, that's about all I have for you today but if please share any of your favourites from this week below! Have a great weekend everyone!
